Your reading. Your privacy.

Privacy policy

Prepaid Legal Information is an information-only website. You do not need an account to read our guides. We do not provide legal intake, accept payments, or invite you to upload case documents.

Effective: October 12, 2026. Last updated: October 16, 2026.

No advertising trackers

No advertising pixels, behavioral analytics, or tracking cookies are installed by this site.

Search is not a private case file

Queries can appear in URLs, browser history, and infrastructure records. Use topics, not personal details.

Calculations stay local in normal use

Our interactive calculators compute in your browser; we do not maintain a database of your budgets or answers.

1. Who and what this policy covers

In this policy, "we" means Prepaid Legal Information, the name used by the operator of this website. The policy covers our informational pages, search, calculators, and correspondence sent to our published contact address.

It does not cover a law firm, legal-plan provider, court, agency, or other website you visit through a link. We are not a law firm, and reading the site or emailing us does not create an attorney-client relationship or make your message legally privileged.

While the site is in restricted development, its networking or access provider may separately process connection or access information. This is not an account-registration service offered by this website.

2. Information we handle and why

Technical delivery and security records
Requests necessarily expose information such as an IP address, date and time, requested page, response status, and browser or device information to the systems delivering the website. We use operational records to serve pages, investigate errors or abuse, and maintain security, not to build advertising profiles.
Search terms and location choices
Search forms can send a topic and selected state in the page URL. State and topic selections may also appear in links or address-bar parameters. These are not stored in a separate visitor profile, but URLs can still be visible in browser history and infrastructure records.
Email you choose to send
If you email us, we receive your address, message, any information you include, and delivery metadata. We use it to respond, investigate a correction or privacy request, and maintain relevant correspondence. Our email service provider handles message delivery and storage.

We do not ask for account credentials, payment information, legal documents, names of opposing parties, or identifying case details. Please do not send Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, medical records, court papers, or other sensitive materials.

3. Search, calculators, and browser history

Search matching uses a local index downloaded to your browser. That does not mean a search is invisible to the server: submitting the search form loads a URL containing the query. Bookmarks, shared links, browser history, screenshots, and network systems may retain that URL.

With JavaScript enabled, calculators and comparison controls process their inputs in your browser. We do not operate a server-side calculation or case-submission service. Calculator amount fields are not included in form submissions, and calculation buttons stay inactive if their scripts cannot initialize. Search forms can still put a topic and state in a URL; do not use them for confidential information.

When you edit the same-work cost calculator, it keeps a temporary draft in this tab's browser session storage so your amounts and result can be restored after visiting the coverage checklist. The draft includes your selected topic and state to avoid applying it to a different matter. It is not sent to us or providers, added to links, or used for tracking. Reset amounts clears the draft. Session storage normally ends when the tab closes, but your browser may retain it when restoring a browsing session. If storage is disabled, calculations still work but the draft may not survive navigation.

We have verified that the restricted development site's web-server access-log configuration omits query strings and referrer fields. Production logging settings and retention have not been verified. Browser history, earlier records, error logs, gateways, hosting systems, or other infrastructure may still retain full URLs.

Practical choice: search "eviction" or "will witnesses," not a name, case number, address, or account detail. Our calculator results are illustrations, not legal advice or a coverage decision. Private browsing is not protection from someone monitoring your device or network.

4. Cookies, tracking, and browser signals

The current site does not set tracking cookies, use browser local or session storage for visitor profiles, load advertising pixels, or install third-party analytics. Ordinary browser caching and history are different from our setting a tracking cookie.

We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising on this site. There is no advertising-tracker consent banner because no optional advertising or analytics tracking is currently installed.

We do not change site behavior in response to a Do Not Track signal; the site does not conduct behavioral tracking. Global Privacy Control does not turn off a sale or advertising-sharing practice here because those practices are not in use. If we add tracking, advertising, or integrations, we will revise the policy and implement any required choices before enabling them.

5. Service providers, external links, and disclosures

Hosting, networking, security, and email providers may process technical or correspondence information to operate their services for us. Their own infrastructure can also create records. We do not intentionally send search topics, calculator answers, or email messages to legal-plan providers as leads.

We may disclose relevant information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or a lawful request, protect the site or other people, investigate abuse, or address a security issue. We do not promise disclosure never happens.

When you follow an external link, the destination receives information needed for its own connection, such as your IP address and browser information, and its privacy policy applies. Our pages use a no-referrer policy to limit sending the page address in the HTTP referrer header. This does not prevent a destination from seeing its own URL, including any parameters in that link.

We are an approved US Legal Forms affiliate through Impact. Our US Legal Forms referral links, identified by nearby commission disclosures, include a referral identifier. Following one connects you to Impact's tracking domain before the provider; those services may record the click, use cookies or other identifiers, and attribute a later purchase under their own privacy notices. Our pages do not load Impact scripts, impression pixels, or remotely hosted affiliate images. We do not append your search terms, selected state, calculator amounts, or case details to affiliate links. We may receive affiliate reports about attributed activity; this is not a legal-help intake service. We do not currently embed third-party videos or social-media widgets.

6. Retention and security

Technical records are retained according to the operational, security, rotation, and backup settings of the systems handling them. Email correspondence may remain while a request or correction is being handled, for relevant follow-up, or when a legal or security reason requires retention. Different systems do not necessarily have the same deletion schedule.

We do not maintain a permanent database of calculator inputs or a personalized search-history account. Limited information can persist in backups or records that are not reasonably available for immediate deletion. Contact us about information you believe we hold; we will explain applicable limitations rather than promise deletion from systems we do not control.

We use HTTPS on the development site and restrict administrative access. No internet service or email transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not use our contact address as a secure legal-document delivery service.

7. Your choices and privacy requests

  • Read without registering, making a payment, or contacting us.
  • Use broad topic searches and avoid sensitive details in forms and shared links.
  • Use your browser's controls for history, caching, and cookies; these do not necessarily clear network or hosting records.
  • Ask about personal information you have sent us, or request access, correction, or deletion where applicable.

Privacy rights depend on your location and applicable law. We will consider a request under the rules that apply, including legitimate retention exceptions. We may need proportionate verification before providing information or making changes. Please start with your contact address and the nature of the request, not an identity document or private case file.

If we do not hold the information, or another provider controls it, we will explain that where possible. A request to us does not automatically remove data held by your browser, network operator, email provider, or an external website.

8. Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience researching legal services, not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

9. Changes to this policy

We will update the date and this page when our practices change. Material changes that require additional notice or consent will be handled as required by applicable law. Future plans to monetize the site do not mean tracking is currently installed. A privacy policy is not a substitute for configuring new tools consistently with it.

10. Contact Prepaid Legal Information

For a privacy question or request, email info@prepaidlegalinformation.com with the subject "Privacy request." Please keep the message limited to the information needed to understand your request.

For content corrections, use the same address and identify the page and disputed statement. Do not send case documents. This is not an emergency service or a legal-help intake address.
